There’s no better feeling when walking into the Bride’s House and seeing your photos on the walls. I had done a pre wedding shoot with Eileen & Frankie and their daughter Mary Kate during the autumn in Slish Woods and Eileen had them all displayed in frames around the house. Everything ran like clockwork with Sylvia and Marcella taking care of the hair and makeup and keeping the girls at ease while I got to photograph Eileen’s beautiful dress and fabulous red shoes. The morning ran smoothly and before long she was in the dress and ready to be photographed with her daughter and family.
I finished at the bride’s house and met the nervous groom at St. Anne’s Church in the heart of Sligo town. I love the architecture of this church with it’s crafted lighting and wide spanning ceilings to get lost in. After a whirlwind ceremony, I photographed everyone from the alter before the bride and groom walked down the aisle. I used to hate going to weddings and having to wait at the end of the ceremony for the photographer to photograph all the family while we sat in the pews, wondering if we’d ever see the light of day. That’s why i don’t tend to delay after signing the registry, I say, let the bride and groom walk down the aisle while the emotions and excitement are running high.
Once the ceremony was over, The bride and groom jumped in their red Vauxhall Monaro and we attempted to get a few images at Rosses Point’s secluded 3rd beach. As we drove in the rain, our hopes were raised as we arrived and the rain seems to disappear. Irish weather never seems to surprise me !
Back at the Hotel, Eileen & Frankie arrived in style and to massive applause as the continued the festivities at the Radisson Blue Hotel & Spa Sligo
