Kilronan Castle is one of the most stylish and scenic locations in the north west and if you’re looking for a romantic castle venue, then look no further. The anticipation on the drive up to the estate as the castle appears in the distance is magical.
When I first arrived at Maria’s house, the sun was starting to show that it was going to hang around for the most of the day as I started with all the bridal details such as the Dress, Jewellery and those gorgeous Christian Louboutin shoes as Emma and Michelle worked on the hair and makeup.
I tend to wait till all the ladies have their hair and makeup done before taking any photographs of them. Once Maria was in the dress, I took a moment to get some natural shots of the bride with her family before the rush kicks in. One tip I always recommend to my brides, is giving yourself half an hour to relax, have some champagne and enjoy the moment. It also acts as a safety net in case things are running late, you’ve got 30 minutes to spare.
The ceremony was in Tubbercurry catholic church which has a beautiful arched wooden door at the entrance and perfect to get one last shot of the Maria and her dad as she walks up the aisle. The Choir had come from Maria’s school in Maynooth where she teaches and sang beautifully throughout the ceremony. I normally would do the creatives down by the promenade at Keadue lake but unfortunately at this time of the year it tends to be submerged. So we went straight to Kilronan Castle to beat the rain and got all the creatives around the castle, even stopping for a quick picnic along the way.
